What are school days and hours?

Northside currently has a 4 day school week. Students go to school Monday - Thursday from 7:50 AM – 3:50 PM. Half-day kindergarten students have a 7:50 AM – 11:40 AM school day. KinderKids are currently meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:50 AM - 11:40 AM.

 

Are scholarships and/or discounts available?

Yes.

  • New and returning students may apply for scholarships.
  • There is also a ministry discount. Anyone who is in a paid ministry position, will receive a 50% discount on tuition.
  • If you are enrolling three or more children, the third and fourth child will be free. The fourth child will not be free if one or more of the children are on a scholarship.
  • If you refer someone to the school and their child completes at least 9 months of the school year at Northside, you will receive a discount of $100 off of your last monthly payment for your child.

        Scholarships and discounts may not combined.

 

How are scholarships awarded?

Both new and returning students may apply for scholarships. The scholarships are need based and recipients of the scholarships are decided upon by the school board.

 

When are the monthly payments due?

If you are on a monthly plan to pay for your child’s tuition, each monthly payment is due by the 1st of the month. Any payments made after the 15th of the month are considered late and will result in a late fee of $20.

 

How secure is the school?

All doors leading into the school remained locked at all times. If anyone wants access into the school, they must buzz into the school entrance doors and be allowed in by the school office. There are cameras cameras, door phones and electronic openers at each school entrance. 

 

Does the school offer lunch?

The school offers snacks at lunch and also has contracts with various restaurants in which parents can preorder lunches for their child. These various restaurants include Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco John’s, Taco Bell, Wilma’s, Arby’s, Hardee’s, Papa John’s, Dominoes, and Captain D’s. There is a monthly lunch schedule with a list of items that can be ordered for each school day.

If parents do not want to preorder food for a certain day, the cafeteria has microwaves for children to use if they bring their own lunches.

 

Are sports offered to students?

Yes, both boys and girls may participate in our basketball and cheerleading programs. Varsity basketball is offered for boys and girls in the 7th – 12th grade. All-Girl Cheer is offered for girls in 7th-12th grade. Royal Cubs basketball and cheerleading are offered to boys and girls in the 1st – 6th grade. Kinder Ballers basketball & cheerleading is offered to boys and girls in Kindergarten 4 and Kindergarten 5. This extracurricular usually takes place September - November.

 

Are boy and girl homeschooled students allowed to participate in Northside’s sports?

Yes, homeschooled students are allowed to participate on Northside sports teams through approval by the school office.

 

What days and times is KinderKids (3 yr olds) currently offered?

KinderKids (3 yr olds) is currently a two day a week program. They meet Tuesday and Thursday from 7:50 AM – 11:40 AM.

* Starting in August 2019, KinderKids will be available for 2, 3 or 5 day (partial-day) options.

 

Is tutoring offered at the school?

Yes, teachers often tutor their students during Study Hall. If you would like a teacher to tutor your child during after school hours, get in contact with the teacher or the school office.

 

When is chapel?

Students have chapel weekly on Thursdays. Chapel includes all grades is held at 8:00 AM in the Worship Center of Northside Baptist Church. Parents and grandparents are welcome to come to chapel. All visitors will need to sign-in at the school office and wear a visitor badge. 

 

What foreign languages are offered to students?

Spanish classes are offered at Northside. High school students are required to take two Spanish classes. A Spanish elective is offered to elementary students.

 

What electives are offered to students?

The elementary electives are Art, Spanish, Computers, Music, and Library. This year, our older classes are able to benefit from Performing Arts, Speech, Advanced PE, and Logic. More electives are being added in the future.

 

 

What curriculum is used at Northside?

Elementary uses mostly A Beka curriculum for core classes. Middle & high school classes uses a variety of A Beka, Bob Jones, Positive Action, and McDougal curriculums. 

 

What is the dress code for boys and girls?

Girls: Girls may wear dress pants, jeans, capris, dresses, skirts or shorts. Dresses, skirts and shorts should be long enough to reach the top of the knee. Shorts should be a uniform style short (khaki, navy or black only). Capris should be khaki, navy or black only.

Tops and shirts must cover the waistband and must be tucked in, unless a tucked-in undershirt is worn beneath. "Polo” style shirts (2 or 3 buttons) with a collar or button-up dress shirts with a collar, crewneck sweaters or Northside t-shirts are required. No midriff or cleavage should be exposed at any time. Scoop-neck and v-neck tops are not allowed. 

Girls may wear dress sandals. Flip-flops or beach sandals are not acceptable footwear.

Boys: Boys may to wear dress pants, jeans or shorts. Shorts should be long enough to reach the top of the knee. "Polo” style shirts (2 or 3 buttons) with a collar or button-up dress shirts with a collar, crewneck sweaters or Northside t-shirts are required. Shorts should be a uniform style short (khaki, navy or black only). Sweaters, vests, and sweatshirts may be worn over the above-mentioned shirts or turtlenecks. Shirts must be tucked in at all times, except straight bottom dress shirts, and a belt must be worn at all times.

Appropriate sandals may be worn. Flip-flops or beach sandals are not acceptable footwear.

Boys are allowed to grow facial hair but they must maintain a neat appearance. Hair is to be clean and neatly cut (above the eyebrows, off the ears, and tapered off the neck). Earrings are not to be worn at school or school functions.

All logos must be smaller than a credit card. An exception has been made for our school spirit logos on sweatshirts or polo shirts. Non-zippered hoodies are not allowed. All clothes must fit properly (not too tight or too loose), be in good repair, and be worn as intended. No body piercings will be allowed for males or females with the exception of earrings for girls. No boy or girl may have a visual tattoo.
